Building a Grief-Sensitive Community Webinar

February 24 @ 6:30 pm

Free

According to the Childhood Bereavement Estimation Model, 1 in 10 children in New Mexico will experience the death of a parent or sibling by age 18. We know if not supported, grief can have a serious impact on learning, academic performance, social withdrawal, and behavioral problems. We can all play a part in supporting a bereaved child…please join this discussion about a common yet overlooked issue…childhood bereavement and how your school community can strive to become grief sensitive.

This webinar will include information about:

  • the prevalence of childhood bereavement
  • insights on how to support students who are grieving the death of a family member, friend, or peer in general, and specifically during the pandemic bereavement
  • resources to support youth and the families including Grief-Sensitive Schools Initiative

No child should grieve alone, attend and find out how you help build a grief-sensitive community.
