Children can be exposed to environmental contamination where they live, learn, and play. Many ECE programs are found in buildings that are located in non-residential areas near other businesses. When an ECE program is not lo-cated in a safe place, children may be exposed to harmful chemicals in the air they breathe, the water they drink, or soil they touch or swallow.
