T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship Models

Scholarship Models

T.E.A.C.H. offers several different scholarship models, outlined below in detail. These include :

Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education

Model 1.  Standard Option

T.E.A.C.H. Covers:

  • 80% of tuition

  • 80% of books

  • $75 travel stipend per semester
  • $5 per hour release time reimbursement

Program Sponsor Covers:

  • 10% of tuition

  • 10% of books

  • 1-6 hours paid release time per week if scholar works 30 or more hours a week

Scholar Covers:

  • 10% of tuition
  • 10% of books

Education: 8-15 credit hours per contract year
 (may be fulfilled by taking one 3-credit class per semester)

Compensation:

  • T.E.A.C.H. pays $200
  • Sponsor pays $200 or 2% raise (at the end of the contract year)

Commitment: Recipient commits to remain with the sponsor one year after the contract

 

Model 3.  Large Program Option

T.E.A.C.H. Covers:

  • 90% of books
  • $75 travel stipend per semester
  • $5 per hour release time reimbursement

Program Sponsor Covers:

  • 90% of tuition
  • 1-6 hours paid release time per week if scholar works 30 or more hours a week

Scholar Covers:

  • 10% of tuition
  • 10% of books

Education: 8-15 credit hours per contract year 
(may be fulfilled by taking one 3-credit class per semester)

Compensation: T.E.A.C.H. pays $400 (at the end of the contract year)

Commitment: Recipient commits to remain with the sponsor one year after the contract

 

Model 5.  Simple Option

T.E.A.C.H. Covers:

  • 90% of tuition and books

  • $75 travel stipend per semester
  • no release time reimbursement

Program Sponsor Covers:

  • $250 per year to T.E.A.C.H.

  • 3 - 4 hours paid release time per week if scholar works 30 or more hours a week

Scholar Covers:

  • 10% of tuition
  • 10% of books

Education: 8-15 credit hours per contract year
 (may be fulfilled by taking one 3-credit class per semester)

Compensation: T.E.A.C.H. pays $400 (at the end of the contract year)

Commitment: Recipient commits to remain with the sponsor one year after the contract

 

Model 7.  Other Early Childhood Professionals/Part-Time Option

Same as Model 5, except no release time is required and bonus is $400.

  • 45% of tuition

  • 1-6 hours paid release time per week if scholar works 30 or more hours a week

Scholar Covers:

  • 5% of tuition
  • 5% of books

Education: 8-15 credit hours per contract year 
(may be fulfilled by taking one 3-credit class per semester)

Compensation: T.E.A.C.H. pays $400 (at the end of the contract year)

Commitment: Recipient commits to remain with the sponsor one year after the contract

 

Model 5.  Simple Option

T.E.A.C.H. Covers:

  • 95% of tuition and books

  • $75 travel stipend per semester
  • no release time reimbursement

Program Sponsor Covers:

  • $350 per year to T.E.A.C.H.

  • 3 - 4 hours paid release time per week if scholar works 30 or more hours a week

Scholar Covers:

  • 5% of tuition
  • 5% of books

Education: 8-15 credit hours per contract year 
(may be fulfilled by taking one 3-credit class per semester)

Compensation: T.E.A.C.H. pays $400 (at the end of the contract year).  During the Student Teaching semester, T.E.A.C.H. pays $1,000/month for living expenses as well as 100% of tuition and books.

Commitment: Recipient commits to remain with the sponsor one year after the contract

Model 7.  Other Early Childhood Professionals/Part-Time Option

Same as Model 5, except no release time is required and bonus is $400.

Scholarship Model for Directors

T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship Covers:

  • 80% of tuition

  • 80% of books

  • $75 travel stipend per semester

Program Sponsor Covers:

  • 10% of tuition

  • 10% of books

  • No release time required, but flexible scheduling is encouraged

Scholar

  • 10% of tuition
  • 10% of books

Education: 8-15 credit hours per contract year (may be fulfilled by taking one 3-credit class per semester)

Compensation: T.E.A.C.H. pays $200 bonus and Sponsor pays $200

Commitment: Recipient commits to remain with the sponsor one year after the contract

Note: There is a separate model for Head Starts and other large programs.

Scholarship Model for Family Home Professionals

T.E.A.C.H.

  • 85% of tuition

  • 85% of books

  • $75 travel stipend per semester

  • $5 per hour release time reimbursement

Family Child Care Provider

  • 15% of tuition

  • 15% of books

  • 1-6 hours paid release time per week

Education: 8-15 credit hours per contract year (may be fulfilled by taking one 3-credit class per semester)

Compensation: T.E.A.C.H. offers a $200 bonus


Commitment: Recipient commits to operate the family home care center for one year after the contract

Scholarship Model for Graduate Work

  • T.E.A.C.H. pays the student a stipend equal to 80% of the tuition cost each semester. The program pays $300 to T.E.A.C.H. toward scholarship costs.
  • The teacher commits to work for the sponsoring program during the year of the scholarship contract, plus one additional year
  • There is no travel stipend, required release time, or bonus connected with this scholarship.

Scholarship Model for Alternative Licensure

  • T.E.A.C.H. pays the student a stipend equal to 85% of tuition and book costs.
  • The program pays $300 to T.E.A.C.H. toward scholarship costs. The Teacher commits to work for the sponsoring program during the year of the scholarship contract, plus one additional year.
  • There is no travel stipend, required release time, or bonus connected with this scholarship.
