The New Mexico Association for the Education of Young Children (NMAEYC) is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to advancing early childhood education. We support educators, families, and communities through professional development, advocacy, and resources that promote equity, quality, and access for children from birth to age eight. We work to ensure every child in New Mexico has the opportunity to thrive in nurturing, high-quality learning environments.
Our Values
We believe in five values that underpin all of our work, including our commitment to inclusivity, equity, diversity, and belonging, which in addition to our values, we have adopted an official statement of DEIB
Collaboration: We value collaboration and believe in strong partnerships between families, communities and schools throughout New Mexico
Diversity: We value diversity and therefore commit to promoting diverse perspectives and cultures within our organization and within the community by actively seeking out and amplifying diverse voices and experiences
Equity: NMAEYC commits itself to advocating for state policies and systems that increase access for diverse families and children to programs and opportunities that support positive child outcomes and it should be valued and protected
Inclusion: We value inclusion and therefore we ensure the promotion of inclusive curriculum and instructional practices, and resources to support the needs of all children and families in New Mexico
Belonging: NMAEYC commits to creating environments where everyone feels a sense of belonging, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other aspect of their identity by actively addressing prohibiting discrimination, bias, and systemic barriers that prevent individuals from feeling included and valued
